This stained-glass work contrasts a radiant exterior with the greed cast across its reverse side, using peonies and moon jars from traditional Korean folk painting as its motifs. The luxuriant peonies and pure white moon jar seen from the front symbolize the splendor and innocent beauty we aspire to, captivating viewers through the brilliant light transmitted by the glass. Yet the moment one shifts their gaze to the side of the work, the dark desire quietly concealed behind the moon jar reveals its true form. Forms that twist as if reaching for something visually render the obsession and selfish inner nature hidden beneath an elegant façade. The inherent brilliance of stained glass paradoxically brings this shadowed desire into sharper relief, and the work moves beyond simple appreciation to confront us with the chilling remnants of human nature concealed behind a splendid mask
화려한 탐 貪
전통 민화 속 모란과 달항아리를 매개로 인간의 찬란한 외면과 그 이면에 도사린 탐욕을 대조시킨 스테인드글라스 작업이다. 정면에서 마주하는 만개한 모란과 단아한 달항아리는 우리가 지향하는 부귀영화와 순수한 아름다움을 상징하며, 유리가 투과시키는 화려한 빛으로 관람객을 매혹한다. 그러나 작품의 옆면으로 시선을 옮기는 순간, 달항아리 뒷면에 은밀히 숨겨진 검은 욕망이 그 실체를 드러낸다. 무언가를 갈구하듯 뒤엉킨 형상들은 고귀한 외면 아래 감춰진 인간의 집착과 이기적인 속내를 시각적으로 표현하였다. 스테인드글라스 특유의 화려함은 역설적으로 그늘진 욕망의 실체를 더욱 선명하게 부각 하며, 작품은 단순한 감상을 넘어 화려한 가면 뒤에 숨겨진 인간 본성의 서늘한 잔상을 마주하게 한다.
