Through the characters of the film The Hobbit, this work raises questions about the desires each of us carries—and what we should truly pursue. The visual language of the stained-glass figures is drawn from medieval cartoons. Referenced as a starting point, medieval cartoons offer a restrained yet highly varied mode of expression, making them well suited to creating stained-glass figures and even inventing images that did not previously exist. Rendered in this style, the figures visualize individual desires through their gestures and symbolic objects. In the film, hobbits dream of modest happiness even in moments of hardship and temptation. They may be neither the wisest nor the most important race, yet they cherish small joys and peace, simple lives, and things that grow. In doing so, they show us what we should truly seek.

영화 ‘호빗’의 등장인물을 통해 각자가 갖고 있는 욕망과 우리가 진정으로 추구해야 할 것은 무엇 인지에 대해 질문을 던진다. 스테인드글라스 피규어(Stained glass Figure)의 표현은 중세 카툰(Me dieval Cartoon)에서 비롯되었다. 중세 카툰은 참고만으로 기존에 없었던 이미지를 새로 창조할 정 도로 다양하면서 절제된 표현으로 스테인드글라스 피규어를 작업하는 데 적합하다. 그렇게 표현 된 피규어는 동작과 상징물들을 통해 각자가 갖고 있는 욕망을 시각화하였다. 극 중 호빗은 고난과 욕망의 순간에도 소소한 삶의 행복을 꿈꾼다. 그들은 현명하지도 중요하지도 않은 종족이지만 소소한 행복과 평화, 단순한 삶과 자라나는 것을 사랑한다. 그들의 모습은 우리가 진정 추구해야 할 것들을 보여준다.
